 Competition Courses

These courses are designed to introduce a new or novice shooter to handgun and multigun gun competition.  This two day series of courses covers the operation of a pistol, carbine, and shotgun...1 day of pistol (Introduction to IDPA) and one day of rifle/shotgun (Introduction to multigun carbine/shotgun). 

Introduction to IDPA

This class is geared toward all 5 divisions of IDPA so a student can feel comfortable bringing any IDPA legal firearm they plan to compete with.  Topics covered will include match safety, marksmanship fundamentals (for accuracy from 3 yds to ?), gear selection, reloads, scoring, shooting from cover, shooting on the move, procedurals and penalties, and more. 

Things to bring for class:

* Competition pistol with three magazines (any IDPA legal handgun, NJ legal mags only)

* Sturdy pistol belt 

* Cover garment

* Holster and magazine pouches

* Eye and ear protection

* Weather appropriate clothing (we train rain or shine)

* 500 Rounds of quality pistol ammunition

Introduction to Multigun

The emphasis of this course is on carbine and shotgun tactics and techniques; a pistol is used for transitions or to complete multigun stages (for comprehensive pistol instruction, sign up for Introduction to IDPA).  Topics covered will include match safety, marksmaship fundametals (for accuracy from 10 yds to ?), gear selection, reloads, shooting from cover, shooting from nonconventional positions, ammunition positioning, transitions, and more.

Things to bring for class:

* Competition pistol with three magazines (9mm or larger, NJ legal mags only)

* Carbine with three magazines  (AR, AK, M1A, etc, NJ legal firearms and mags only)

* Shotgun (20 ga or larger, pump of semi-auto action)

* Sturdy pistol belt 

* Sling for each long arm

* Holster and ammunition/magazine pouches

* Eye and ear protection

* Weather appropriate clothing (we train rain or shine)

* 100 Rounds of quality pistol ammunition

* 120 Rounds of quality shotgun ammunition (100 Birdshot no larger than 6, 20 slugs)

* 300 Rounds of quality carbine ammunition
